101 SOUTH | 101 South | (MTM Music, 2000)

Freeway Ride / Run Like The Tiger / We Took The Wrong Road / Boat Out On The Water / Nowhere To Run / Your Razor Is Sharp / Casualty Of Love / She Walks On Water / You're So Cold / Nobody Moves A Mountain / There's A Train Coming / Live For The Moment

Many Harlan Cage fans will probably pick up keyboarder Roger Scott Craig's (from the fantastic Harlan Cage) project 101 South as it echos Harlan Cage. For good and for bad.
For good because Harlan Cage's pompous style sounds unique in the year 2000. For bad because Harlan Cage already sounds like this.
101 South vocalist Gregory Lynn Hall I don't know where they found, but he sure ain't no Larry Greene. Hall's unpolished & raw style annoys me badly. As goes for the production. It sounds like it was done fairly quickly and it definitely doesn't sound as crisp and fine tuned as the ones with Harlan Cage.
Fact: A good day at the job, but disturbing to hear songs from Scott Craig it sounds he already did better with Harlan Cage.

220 VOLT | Lethal Illusion | (Empire Records, 1997)

Lethal Illusion / Don't You Believe Me / Chicago / Private Queen / Good For Me / Shotgun Sally / Disappointed / The Great Escape / Big Business / Before You Go / Prisoner Of War / Sauron

It has now passed 8 years since 220 Volt's last album (their best according to me) "Eye To Eye" was released.
After hearing this album, consisting of songs they demoed after being dropped from CBS, I wish "Eye To Eye" really had been their final piece.
The songs sound unfinished in all areas; music-, lyric- and soundwise. "Disappointed" and "Shotgun Sally" are maybe the two worst examples.
I can't quite understand why this is coming out on CD. When it all comes down they won't sell that much based on their name.
Maybe the right amount of money convinced them? Only speculation of course.
Nevertheless I think you'll be as disappointed as I if you would buy it, which I recommend you not to.
